Fishman Pickups has since 1981 produced some of the industry's finest acoustic amplification equipment. Over 20 years later, even in a market saturated with guitar amplification choices, Fishman pickups and preamps are still the standard against which most other gear is judged. And most guitar builders who include electronics in their guitars use either Fishman pickups or Fishman pickup/preamp combos. And, of course, Fishman pickups and preamps are used by pros worldwide, including Dave Matthews, Chis Proctor, Jacques Stotzem, Ed Gerhard, and countless others.

Fishman pickups and pickup systems:

Acoustic Matrix - The element in this pickup is the backbone of most Fishman pickup systems. It uses a vibration sensing copolymer to capture the warmth of the guitar, and it comes with a preamp integrated into the endpin jack. All Fishman products which include the Acoustic Matrix pickup are available in Wide (1/8") and Narrow (3/32") formats. For help determining the width of your saddle groove, visit our FAQ. Prefix - The Fishman Prefix pickup systems combine the Acoustic Matrix undersaddle pickup with a side-mount preamp for fingertip control of your guitar's live tone. Several models are available: The Prefix and Prefix Plus give you broad EQ control over the Matrix pickup, and the Prefix Premium Blend adds a tuner and a detachable mic. Prefix Pro/Prefix Pro Blend - These pickup systems offer the same features as Fishman's Prefix Plus and Prefix Stereo Blender, but with a narrower sidemount preamp so they can fit in acoustic guitars with shallower bodies, like OMs, 00s, and smaller. Don't be thrown off by the use of the word "Pro"--in this case, it doesn't stand for "professional", but rather "narrower than our regular models".

Rare Earth Soundhole Pickups - The Fishman Rare Earth pickups have been racking up awards since their introduction. In fact, the Rare Earth Blend was recently voted Favorite Acoustic Guitar Pickup by the readers of Acoustic Guitar magazine. Available in single coil, humbucker and a humbucker/microphone blended setups. (details)

Neo-D - This is the more affordable version of Fishman's Rare Earth soundhole pickups. It uses the same magnet technology, but it gets wrapped in a passive pickup that plugs directly into an amp. (details)

Fishman Preamps:

Pro-EQ - The versatile Pro-EQ series preamps are among our best-selling outboard preamps. The Pro EQ II preamp is a beltclip model with EQ control. The Pro EQ Platinum preamps (for acoustic guitar or electric bass) are outboard preamps with tons of features, including a compression circuit and an XLR DI output. Any of these preamps would be a perfect match for any Fishman pickup, especially the Acoustic Matrix undersaddle pickups.

Fishman Acoustic Amps:

Loudbox - Fishman's Loudbox lineup of amps aren't just great acoustic amps with transparent, clean tone--they pack anywhere from 100 to 600(!) watts of punch so you don't have to worry about getting killed acoustically by your drummer and bassist. The Fishman Loudbox also recently won the 2005 MIPA award for Best Acoustic Amplifier. Be sure to check out the new Loudbox 100, too (you can order it below). It boasts all the great tone and onstage guts that made the original Loudboxes so popular, but it's only 23 lbs and $550. (details and high-res pics)

Aura - The Fishman Aura is one of the early entries into the acoustic modeling/imaging race, and at this stage, it's clearly the one to beat. The Aura is designed to reproduce your guitar's unplugged tone, even when you're playing live onstage with a pickup. You just plug in, set the blend (between the raw pickup and the modified image) and you're ready to roll. It's designed to work like a pedalboard, with the standard footswitches right on top of the unit. With a dedicated website (www.fishmanaura.com) and downloadable software patches, this product is likely to be one of the most versatile and longest-lasting pieces of guitar electronics you'll own.
